Medical Weight Loss in Franklin Square NY: What the Program Actually Looks Like
You already know how to lose weight. Eat less, move more, be patient. Everyone knows.
Which is exactly why it is so frustrating when it stops working. You cut portions, you walk more, the scale moves four pounds and then parks there for two months. Meanwhile someone at work drops twenty pounds doing what sounds like nothing. It is hard not to take that personally.
Here is the part that gets left out of the conversation: the same effort produces different results in different bodies. Metabolism, hormones, sleep quality, stress load, medication history, thyroid function, and years of previous dieting all shift the math. A medically supervised program starts with that reality instead of ignoring it.
What makes it “medical”
The difference is not a secret pill. The difference is oversight and personalization.
Sergina Jean is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than fifteen years in nursing and a background in primary medicine and cardiology before she moved into aesthetics and wellness. That matters here more than anywhere else in our practice. Weight is connected to blood pressure, energy, sleep, blood sugar, and how you feel walking up a flight of stairs. It is not a cosmetic project.
So instead of handing you a generic plan, we look at your history, your labs where appropriate, what you eat in a normal week, how you sleep, and what has already failed for you and why. Then we build around that.
You can read more about our full approach on the medical weight loss page.
Your first visit
Plan for a real conversation, not a five minute intake.
We go through your health history, your medications, previous attempts at weight loss and what happened with each one, and what your actual goal is. That last one matters more than people expect. “Lose 40 pounds” and “fit into the dress in October” and “stop getting winded on the stairs at work” are three different goals that lead to three different plans.
We also talk about your life. If you work nights, that changes things. If you have three kids and cook dinner at 8pm, that changes things. A plan that only works for someone with a flexible schedule and a private chef is not a plan, it is a fantasy.
The nutrition side
Everyone gets a customized nutritional chart. Not a printout of the same 1,200 calorie menu we hand everybody.
We build a weekly meal plan around what you will actually eat. If you hate fish, we are not putting salmon on there four times. If you eat out three nights a week because of your job, we work with restaurant food rather than pretending you will meal prep on Sundays.
The goal is a plan you can hold for months, not one you white knuckle for eleven days and then abandon in a pile of guilt. Most diets do not fail because people lack willpower. They fail because they were unlivable from the start.
Lipotropic and vitamin support
This is the piece people are usually most curious about.
Vitamin B12
B12 plays a role in producing healthy blood cells, and it also supports metabolism, energy, and the nervous system. A lot of people running on empty are also running low here, and the difference in day to day energy can be noticeable.
Skinny Lipo Shot
This one supports weight reduction, and we want to be direct about how it works: it does its job when it is paired with a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition. It is support for the work you are doing. It is not a substitute for the work.
Liquid Lipo
Another option we offer as part of the program, discussed at your consultation based on what fits your plan.
All of our injectables come from regulated, FDA approved compounding pharmacies, and everything is administered under medical supervision. That is not a small detail in a market where people are buying wellness products from strangers on the internet.
Movement, realistically
The question we get constantly is how much you have to exercise.
The honest answer is that it depends on the individual, and we will tell you what makes sense for your body and your situation rather than assigning everyone the same number of gym days. For some people the right starting point is a daily walk. For others it is strength training twice a week to hold onto muscle while the weight comes off, which matters a great deal for how you look at the end of this and for how easy it is to maintain.
What we will not do is put you on a program so demanding that you quit in three weeks.
What the timeline looks like
Steady beats fast. That is not a motivational slogan, it is a practical observation about who keeps the weight off.
We schedule regular check-ins, and those matter more than most people realize. Not because we are checking up on you, but because a plan that made sense in month one often needs adjusting by month three. Your body changes as you lose weight. What worked at the start starts producing less, and that is expected, not a personal failure. Having someone track it with you and adjust is the entire point of doing this with a provider instead of alone.
Frequently asked questions
A diet gives you rules. A medically supervised program gives you a plan built around your health history, your labs, your schedule and your food preferences, plus a provider tracking your progress and adjusting as your body changes. It also catches things a diet cannot, like an underlying issue that has been quietly working against you.
It depends on you, and that is a real answer rather than a dodge. We will make a specific recommendation based on your fitness level, your health history and what you can realistically sustain. For plenty of people, the starting point is walking.
It supports weight reduction, and it works best alongside a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition. We are straightforward with everyone about this: it supports your effort, it does not replace it.
We do not accept insurance, but we do offer financing through CareCredit and Cherry so you can spread the cost out. We will go over pricing with you clearly at your consultation, with no surprises after.
Not if we plan for that from the start, which is why maintenance is part of the conversation on day one rather than an afterthought at the end. The people who hold their results are the ones who built habits along the way instead of just enduring a temporary program.
